Congratulations to the students who supported our site.
I cannot announce where the plus points will be added to. But, rest assured that the students that I mentioned above won't regret anything. Their contributions and efforts are more than any points that I can give them.
Upon reading this announcement, you might have some questions in your mind like "What's the reason of doing this kind of nonsense?" or "If I contribute, would that benefit me?"
Well, let me tell you that a lot of people have achieved a lot through writing online. Let's take for example http://www.yugatech.com - a blog created last October 2002 by a Filipino named Abe Olandres. He has made his blog into one of the most famous blogs not only in the Philippines but the whole world. He was featured in a lot of publications and news, and was interviewed by GMA, ABS CBN, and some other TV networks. Advertisers and companies also offer him a lot of opportunities.
There is also one blogger that I know who has made a name in online writing. I don't exactly know his real name but he is known for his pen name "papaleng". I have read a certain book about him in the Philippines which mentioned how he achieved his success. He was just a simple man who had a dream of becoming a writer. That dream is not a dream anymore, it has become real.
See? That's what blogging can do for you.
But, I know that you still have some hesitations in your mind because you are not sure whether you can do it or not. You still want someone to guide through this. That's why I am here.
Writing can't be totally learned in school. The school teaches you which makes you become equipped. But, do you really apply the things that you have learned to the real world? I bet you don't. You just absorb all the lessons and babosh no more. Goodbye new learned things. Everything will just be forgotten because you are not practicing. Blogging is one way of applying what you have learned in our English writing classes. There's no other place (except school) where you can write and be read but the internet. Write an article and let your neighbor read it. For sure, your neighbor will just dump whatever precious ideas that you have written into a piece of paper.
But the internet has opened its doors for you and for me. The opportunity of spreading your idea throughout the world is already upon reach. Let's grab it because opportunity only knocks once. There's nothing to worry whether you are a newbie to writing because nobody will grade you. No teacher will scold you because you got a failing grade, or your mother tearing your ear with her annoying words when she is doing her sermon because you fail in English writing. The internet is where real people meet and is a good place to practice your skills without worrying about committing a mistake.
It's just a matter of practice before you can become better. Well, I am not saying that I am a good writer because I commit some mistakes. I am an English teacher but I accept the fact and I am proud to say that I am not perfect. That makes me want to learn more.
Blogging is one way of developing your writing skills. It's one of the many ways of expression as well. With the boom of technology, writing online has become very popular that a lot of people are getting into it. Let's not be left behind. Let's dance with the music! If we won't do anything to jive with it, then, it would take a really tough effort for us to get into the tempo of the new generation of writing.
Write! Be heard! Dance with the new music of writing! Be one of us!
Tell next time then! Have a good day.
